VEIL

One card, each morning

The card of the day

One card. One reflection. Drawn once each day and unchanging until the day turns — so that what it asks of you has time to be tested against what actually happens.

Free · No account needed

The daily card is the smallest possible tarot practice and, for most readers, the one that changes them. A full spread is an event; you go to it when something is wrong. A single card each morning is a habit, and habits are where a practice actually forms.

The discipline is simple: draw in the morning, read what it asks, and then carry the question through the day rather than resolving it on the spot. The Seven of Pentacles asks what you are waiting on. The Moon asks what you are refusing to look at directly. You will usually find the answer somewhere around four in the afternoon, in a conversation you did not expect.

Your card is drawn for you and holds for the whole day — the same card whenever you return to it, so that a reading cannot be redrawn until it flatters you.

What each position holds

  1. 1

    Today's card

One card, drawn for you alone and fixed until the day turns. What it asks of you, in its light and its shadow.

Before you begin

Why can't I draw again?

Because a card you can redraw is a card you can ignore. Holding one for a full day is the entire discipline — it forces the meaning to be tested against a real day rather than swapped for a nicer one.

When does the card change?

At midnight, and it is drawn specifically for you — two people opening Veil on the same morning will not see the same card.

What do I do with it?

Read it in the morning and let it sit. Do not try to solve it at breakfast. The card is a question to carry, not a task to complete.

Does it cost anything?

No. The daily card is free, permanently, and always will be. It is the practice the rest of Veil is built around.
